The Tattoo Tip Calculator helps you quickly calculate a fair tip for your tattoo artist based on the total service cost.
Simply enter the tattoo price and tip percentage to see the tip amount and total payment.
Tip Amount = Tattoo Service Cost × Tip Percentage ÷ 100
Getting a tattoo service is expensive, time-consuming, and requires the creativity and skill of a professional artist. Tipping a tattoo artist can be confusing, and you may wonder how to tip based on the quality of service.
Our Tattoo Tip Calculator is specifically designed to help with this. It helps you make a smart and fair tipping decision. This guide includes:

A Tattoo Tip Calculator is a free online tool that helps you make a wise decision about how much to tip your tattoo artist based on:
After computing these values, the calculator instantly shows you the total payment, including tip, that you need to pay your tattoo artist.
You no longer need to use a general mobile calculator to find the tip amount after getting a tattoo service. This calculator automates the calculation process but if you want a way or trick that lets you compute the tattoo tip or any tip within a couple of seconds, then memorize the following tricks:
One of the most common and easiest methods is to move the decimal one place left. For instance, if your tattoo service bill is $75 in total amount, move the decimal one place left, $75 → $7.5 that's how simple it is. We have calculated the 10% tip for a $75 bill, now let’s use this trick on a couple of more bills to help you memorize it.
For Example:
To calculate 15% tip amount of total bill, the method is the same: move the decimal one place left to have 10% of total bill, now half the amount of 10% and add that 5% to the 10%, you will have total 15% tip amount of the bill.
For example, you got a tattoo service with a $130 of total bill amount and you want to tip 15%, first move decimal one place left $130 → $13, now half of this is $6.5, we will get $19.5 by adding that $6.5 + $13.
To understand clearly, consider one more example:
Total bill amount is $244, to calculate 15% tip move decimal one place left $244 → $24.4, now half of this is $12.2, next consider adding $12.2 + $24.4, we will get in total $36.6, which is 15% of the total bill amount $244. So anyone can easily compute tips using simple decimal movement and basic mental math.
To put it simply, we already know the trick to calculate 10% tip of the total bill by using the moving decimal one place left, just add the same 10% amount to get the 20% tip amount.
Assuming your total bill amount is $135, moving decimal one place left $135 → $13.5, now double that amount $13.5 + $13.5, which is in total $27 tip of 20%.
While the calculator provides the answer, the tipping rates can vary. Here is a common guideline for tipping your tattoo artist.
| Service Quality | Recommended Tip % |
|---|---|
| Excellent | 25% |
| Good (Standard) | 20% |
| Poor | 15% |
The standard tattoo tip is 20%, but you can adjust it to 25% or 15% depending on the quality of service.
After getting a $1,000 tattoo, you can calculate the tip using the standard 20%. If the service was poor or exceptional, you can adjust the tipping percentage.
To calculate a tip for a $3,000 tattoo service:
Tipping your tattoo artist is generally a sign of appreciation for good service, but it is not mandatory. However, many tattoo artists rely on tips as part of their income.
